Assignments
In addition to the following written/performance assignments, you are responsible for understanding the content of all assigned readings (See the scheduled readings)
- Dispositions and Front-loading Reflection: Take the Dispositions Self-Assessment and write a reflection. Your reflection should address the validity of the assessment tool, your purported strengths and weaknesses, and how you plan to improve in your lowest areas. Include in your paper what dispositions you feel make for a good educator. Draw on your experiences for anecdotal evidence.
Concepts assessed: - Teacher Interview: Contact a working teacher in your interest area and request a half-hour of their time to interview them. Construct an interview of about 20 questions. Get the teacher’s background information, including: full name, education, motivation for becoming a teacher, positions held, etc… Construct your interview around a common theme (management, philosophy, lesson design, etc…) and stay with it. Connect your questions explicitly to material from Lemov or one of the Provenzo readings. Finally, report out on our blog.
